“A must see show that is something quite extraordinarily unique”
Returning to The Vaults (and there’s no other venue in London better suited) for a five month run is the totally unique Alice’s Adventures Underground. Based around the much loved characters created by Lewis Carroll, this theatrical experience takes ‘immersive’ to a whole new (underground) level.
With a reworked and extended script, new characters, new scenes and more audience involvement, the show knock’s its previous incarnation into a cocked (Mad Hatter’s) hat.
It’s difficult to write too much without giving away too many spoilers, but put it this way – you are in for one hugely magical evening. You’ll be guided through multiple rooms, meet some enchanting characters, experience falling down the rabbit hole and even appear to travel in a most curious lift.
With its clever audience focused design, should you go and see the show again (and you should!), it’s virtually guaranteed that you’ll have a slightly different adventure every time. A lot depends on what you choose to eat, or drink and how the cards are dealt . . . !
The show has a cast and creative team that exceeds that of even the biggest West End productions yet this always feels like an intimate show due to the unique way it is performed. The audience are truly made to feel part of the show by an amazingly talented team of actors, acrobats and puppeteers who bring the magic alive (helped by an unseen army of technical and backstage crew).
Get there early and enjoy the ambience of a Wonderland themed Vaults. There’s food, bars with themed cocktails, and helpful friendly staff (something sadly missing in some venues).
It’s one of those must see shows that is something quite extraordinarily unique. Be quick though as this is sure to be this summer’s hot ticket and sell out fast.
